Intentions

I am not entirely sure what my reasons for starting this blog are. I know my main intention is to share music that I love with others. I have become frustrated doing this in person as it always seems a bit too pushy and intrusive and rarely comes about organically. Thus I intend to leave my recommendations up here for anyone who wants to read them. Another reason is that I have become frustrated with my own lack of output. I don't seem to be adding anything into this world. I feel as though all I am doing now is taking things others have created and for the most tearing them down. I am not saying that I view this blog as some monumental undertaking or achievement but at this point at least it is something.

I should mention that a large portion (most) of my posts will probably be reposts from other blogs. This might be frowned upon in the blogging community (I assume by some) but my reasons are simple enough. That is where I usually get new music for myself and thus it is what I have to share. In the end I do hope to have enough original posts here to define this blog and not just be a filter for the blogs listed on the right.

The music I listen to tends to be a bit obscure rather than not. I obviously have some preferences when it comes to genre and theme but I do consider myself to be open and willing to accept anything as long as I can find something that interests me. So I believe there will eventually be a large mix of different kinds of music for you to enjoy.

Finally, I also wanted to mention that the name, The Marching Beast, was lifted from a Aphrodite's Child song. This doesn't really have any bearing on anything but it does seem worth mentioning. The song is from the 1970 album 666 which is fantastic; definitely one of my favourite prog. albums.
